Alicante to renovate the “Joaquin Villar” athletics stadium
Alicante will renovate the athletics stadium “Joaquin Villar” with 1.9 million euros.
Alicante city council has launched a call for tenders for the renovation project of the municipal athletics stadium ‘Joaquin Villar’. In total, the project will amount to around 1.9 million euros, including 600,000 euros already allocated to improving the energy efficiency of lighting in the area.
Together, the projects will be developed by the municipal infrastructure service, in coordination with Sports, led by councilors José Ramon Gonzalez and José Luis Berenguer.
According to the Alicante city hall during the project “the renovation of the eight-lane athletic track and its equipment will be addressed, an artificial turf training corridor will be created, the concrete paving of the north, south and east perimeters. will be consolidated, a bio-health circuit will be installed in the south garden and the kiosk in the north garden, an access ramp will be built from the changing rooms, the toilets will be renovated, a kiosk-bar will be built and an outdoor sports circuit will be created, in addition to completing the stadium fence at its northern and southern ends.
Part of the project will see the existing pavement replaced with advanced synthetic materials. The perimeter heating walkway will be replaced by artificial turf, which will allow better absorption of impacts. Hopefully, this will mean people can train for longer with less risk of injury.
The council stated that: “A kiosk-bar will also be built in the north garden to serve the various sports areas of the municipal stadium, around which a recreational space will be created for social relations, relaxation for sportsmen, etc. And, in the south garden, the construction of an outdoor “training work fit” circuit with stations and warm-up and functional training equipment in the open air is being considered.
