BLUEFIELD, Virginia – School officials at Graham High School have found a way to help people who may have difficulty purchasing a ticket online for Saturday’s big semifinal showdown between Graham and Appomattox at the Mitchell Stadium.
Graham High School Principal Joanne Young confirmed on Wednesday morning that area residents who are unable to purchase their tickets online can instead come to Graham High School and pay for their $ 11.50 digital ticket in cash. ($ 10 for the ticket and $ 1.50 for the GoFan fee) as long as they make it by Friday December 3 at noon.
Young said fans purchasing their high school tickets will be required to enter Mitchell Stadium on Saturday through the house door marked “Pass Gate” and show their ID. This will then allow school officials to activate their digital ticket online.
Young said those who buy their tickets at school should register their entire group at the gate at the same time on Saturday.
All of this is necessary because the Virginia High School League refuses to allow the sale of paper tickets at the Saturday gate of Mitchell Stadium. Instead, the league requires that all tickets for Saturday’s game be purchased through the GoFan app, which must be downloaded to their cell phone and requires an account creation, including a username or a password, as well as a credit card for digital purchase. You can also link to the GoFan app from the Virginia High School League website at https://www.vhsl.org/ or via the official Graham High School Facebook page.
Young said that for citizens who need help purchasing a ticket, the school bypasses the app requirement by purchasing prepaid debit cards that will be used for digital ticket purchases. The school will then have staff on site on Saturday to help activate the digital tickets for citizens who purchase them at the school when they enter the Mitchell Stadium Pass Gate on Saturday.
Young said most fans will likely be able to purchase their own tickets online through the GoFan app, but said some citizens may need help.
“So for those who can’t, we can help them,” she said. “We want to pack the (stadium) with fans. This is our goal.
Kick-off is scheduled for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.
If Graham wins at Mitchell Stadium on Saturday, the G-Men will then advance to the State Championship game.
“We look forward to seeing our young men’s success on the pitch on Saturday,” Young said. “We would like the community to come forward and support their efforts. “
Young said QR codes will also be available at the door for anyone looking to purchase their digital tickets online at the door. However, she warned that internet service at Mitchell Stadium could be limited if a large number of people try to log into the GoFan app or website at the same time.
