Georgia State vs Auburn Preview

After two wins over 60 points, the Tigers have suffered their first loss of the season, a 28-20 loss to the No.6-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions. Auburn quarterback Bo Nix completed 21 of 37 passes for 185 yards in a solid performance, and he got some help from the running game.

Cartavious Bigsby had 23 carries for 102 yards and two runs, while Jarquez Hunter added 63 yards on nine carries for the Tigers. On defense, Auburn kept Penn State under 100 rushing yards (94), but the secondary was shredded for 302 yards. They should bounce back here.

“What a loss does doesn’t expose so much, but lets you understand how important everything we do is. And the time you need to spend to really prepare to play the way you want to play in all four quarters of football is reality, ”Auburn coach said. Bryan Harsin said after the game. “With a loss, that sting, that drive, that motivation – whatever you call it – you have to move on and you can’t let the last game beat you twice. You have to move on, but you have to let go of some of that sting and understand that you haven’t done well enough – you don’t go out and do the same.

On the other hand, Georgia State just picked up its first win of the season against the Charlotte 49ers last week. Quarterback Darren Grainger went 6-12 for 139 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the win. Well-balanced rushing play also helped in a big way, with Destin Coates scoring 83 yards on four carries, Tucker Gregg rushing for 76 yards on 22 carries and Jamyest Williams on 73 yards and a scoring seven carries.

On defense, the Panthers have limited Charlotte to 276 total yards (118 rushing, 158 passing), but they’ll have their hands full against the double-threat Nix, giving the latter a definitive David feel against Goliath.

“They are tall, they are physical, they are talented. They sort of have a choice of litter. They’re Auburn, and fair, they’re athletic. It’s just who they are. This is what they are talking about. In the SEC, if you look at their inner D-line, there are some gigantic men in there. But at all levels, you know, they’re talented, ”Georgia State head coach Shawn Elliott said facing the Tigers.

This will be the very first meeting between these two teams.
