  • Players reported the impostor after noticing that his outfit bore little resemblance to the team’s training uniforms.
  • The man wore the number 43, which belonged to a retired player
  • He was escorted off the field to Saint Vincent College around 4 p.m. on Saturday

A Steelers fan clad in full football gear made it through security to join the team on the pitch for training camp on Saturday afternoon.

Players reported the impostor after noticing that his outfit – yellow soccer pants and a yellow jersey – hardly resembled the team’s training uniforms.

He also wore the number 43, which has not been issued since former player Troy Polamalu retired in 2015.

Before being escorted off the field to Saint Vincent College, the man participated in a few stretching exercises and was seen talking to Steelers star Antonio Brown, who later joked that the fan wanted to “check it”.

It didn't take long for the real players to notice the impostor, after which he was escorted off the pitch

The Steelers have not commented on the incident and coach Mike Tomlin declined to answer a question about it during his post-practice press conference.

Fans are allowed to watch the team practice behind a fence when they are on the artificial pitch, as they were on Saturday.

It is not known how the man managed to sneak past security.
