Dean Ladson, who is the father of a football player, told WUSA9 he saw two men arguing before the shots were fired and he couldn’t understand why anyone would even bring a weapon at a children’s sporting event.

“It wasn’t a gun show, it wasn’t adult football,” Ladson said. “It was not a reason to have any kind of enmity or anger issues and so on. So whatever the reason for what happened, it doesn’t make sense.”

Ladson was unaware of the nature of the argument. He said he saw at least 200 to 300 children scatter after hearing the sounds of gunfire coming from the field.

Gordon is currently wanted on two counts of aggravated malicious wounds; one count of possession of a firearm on school property; two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a crime; and two counts of using a firearm on school property, according to police.

Authorities are offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to an arrest. Through a partnership with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, an additional $5,000 reward is being offered in connection with the arrest and conviction of the accused.
