Back in the top 25 nationally for the first time in more than two years, UCF hopes to stay in control for the American Athletic Conference title and a New Year’s Six Bowl bid on Saturday.
The Knights (6-2, 3-1) travel to Memphis (4-4, 2-3) in the final chapter of another long-running rivalry. The two teams have met 15 times since 2005, with UCF emerging victorious in all but one game.
Starting quarterback John Rhys Plumlee left last week’s win over Cincinnati with a concussion, leaving his status uncertain throughout the week. If the eldest can’t get dressed, second Mikey Keene will take over behind center.
Keene, who improved his career record as a starter to 8-3, completed his last six passes in the fourth quarter against the Bearcats and crafted two assists.
Can the Knights maintain their momentum or become another casualty of Memphis’ recent run of success against ranked opponents? The Tigers are 8-1 in such scenarios since 2015, winning four straight.
